Comete Line Reunion Brussells, 16th – 18th October 2015

In outline the programme is:

Saturday 17th October
Morning : Departure by bus, from Hotel Novotel, Bruxelles-Ste Catherine (centre of town) to The War Cemetery in Heverlee, where  several airmen from aircraft destroyed by the enemy during the war WW2 are buried.  Some of those interred  here were colleagues of airmen helped by the Comete Line.

From Heverlee, we will follow the path of an airman who passed around Heverlee, then arrived in Brussels, guided by “Comete. We will pass the  houses of helpers, lodgers, printers of false ID cards, agents, guides, and places of memory (Dédée De Jongh’s grave)

Lunch : at the Brussels Yacht Club restaurant, on the Canal in Laeken.

Afternoon : Visit places of interest relating to the Comete Line
Around 17.00 : Meet in the lounge of the bar of the Ibis hotel, rue Joseph
Plateau, 2 (near place Ste Catherine) 1000 Bruxelles, catch up with old friends,  veterans and  members of the Comete Line, to hear something of their history and exploits, …. Everybody is welcome.

19H Dinner at the same location.

Sunday 18th October
10.30 Visit an exhibition on “Edith Cavell” with a guide including refreshments.
12.30 Koekelberg Basilica : Ceremony in front of the “Comete” window, RAFES plaque.
Then, ceremony for other Belgian Evasion Lines.
Then, ceremony to the RAF airmen, in the Chapel to the RAF-Belgian Branch
13.30 Buffet-Lunch “Comete” at la Maison des Ailes, rue Montoyer, 1040 Bruxelles.
